I’m Miguel Collins, and I’ve spent more than two decades as a tattoo collector and enthusiast — planning pieces for months, waiting a year for the right artist, and reading flash like other people read a menu. Shine Harder Tattoos is where that obsession finally has a home: a place to document the work, the artists, and the culture I’ve spent half my life chasing.
From One Tattoo to a Whole Life
It was supposed to be a one-off. I walked out changed — not just marked, but hooked on the whole ritual: the consult, the stencil, the hum of the machine, the healing. I knew before it peeled that there would be another.
I started studying instead of just admiring — line weight, black packing, how a design sits with the body instead of fighting it. I learned the difference between a tattoo and a piece, and whose hands I trusted to make one.
Collecting is patience. I’d sit on an idea for a year, get on the books of an artist worth the wait, and travel for the ones who don’t come to you. Every piece is a bookmark — where I was, who held the machine, what mattered that season.
Twenty years of notes, DMs and dog-eared portfolios had to go somewhere. So I turned the obsession into a desk — spotlighting artists, testing the aftercare I actually use, and keeping a record for the next collector figuring out who to trust.

I don’t chase trends and I don’t do filler. A tattoo is a commitment, and so is writing about them — so I only put a name up when the work earns it, and I only recommend gear I’ve actually healed with. Twenty years in, that’s still the whole job.
